For adults

Todo junto is the translation of the popular English program Putting It Together written by Beth Skelton and Denise Milligan.  The pictures are the same, but the stories have been modified to be culturally and linguistically accurate for adult Spanish classes. It is the first TPRS Curriculum for adult and secondary Spanish Language Learners.   The Student Book has 45 stories including pictures, listening, reading, and writing activities for beginning to low intermediate adult Spanish Language Learners.  The first chapter builds basic vocabulary for beginners through TPR and the following 9 chapters are divided according to the adult competencies of consumer economics, health, community, housing, and employment.  Each chapter includes a 4-block picture for 4 mini-stories and one main story, in which all the new vocabulary and structures of the four mini-stories are recycled.   The 200 page Teacher’s Guide (available in English) includes suggested gestures, questions, commands, and mini-scenarios for each target vocabulary phrase in each story.    Please click here  to see a sample lesson.   Please click here  to buy these materials.

For high school

Avancemos is the TPRS component for the Spanish high school program published by McDougal Littell in 2007.   The TPRS component follows the general structure of the traditional book and heavily relies in the thematic units that are introduced in each chapter.   Three levels compose the program. Each book or level has 8 units, and each unit has two lessons. Each lesson includes a list of structures and vocabulary, three mini-stories, and one lesson story, which recycles the vocabulary from the mini-stories.   Click here  to contact the publisher.

For elementary

Mis cartillas is a collection of thematic units for beginners and intermediate level students. The units have been designed with elementary students in mind, but can be easily adapted to any age. Each cartilla includes a list of vocabulary, lesson plans, one story per lesson, and suggestions for projects and holistic assessment instruments. Each lesson plan includes the three basic steps of TPRS: vocabulary and structures, storytelling, and reading; and suggestions for songs, games and other activities.   Mis cartillas are available to download and also in hard copy.
